Shyamkumar inaugurates YWA building at Andro Khuman

Imphal, September 10 2019: MAHUD Minister Th Shyamkumar inaugurated Youth Welfare Association building at Andro Khuman Tuesday.

Speaking at the inaugural event as chief guest, Th Shyamkumar said that the building was constructed from the MLA Local Area Development Fund.

Th Shyamkumar, who is also the Forest Minister, lauded the locals of Andro for their active involvement in tree plantation programmes taken up in the region.

He also appreciated the locals for keeping their indigenous culture and tradition intact.

Stating the importance of providing quality education and upbringing to children, he assured that special focus will be given to pre primary education.

Pre-primary schools and 'Rhyme Kid Centres' will be established at Andro, he said.

Commenting on the various needs of the locals and projects to be taken up in the region, Shyamkumar said that a new reservoir of the Andro Water Supply will be installed/constructed to provide adequate and safe drinking water.

Community Hall at Andro Khuman Lampak constructed by former MLA Chandro will be expanded and renovated to meet the needs of the locals, he added.

He also assured that cable (car) transport will be installed between Chingoi Mahadeva and Andro Khalong under the Prime Minister's 100 Point Programme.

The project which aims to attract tourists will not only generate income but also give employment to locals.

Road from Andro to Khalong will be also be reconstructed soon, he said.

Khullakpa Sana Pokpa Chakpa Andro Ch Gandhar Meitei, president DOAK Ch Suresh Singh, Chairperson Andro Municipal Council Y Sajouba Singh and Lecturer Azad Higher Secondary School Sh Thambou Singh also attended the event as presidium members.
