Imphal, June 10 2021:
Stating that vaccination is the only way to prevent the spread of Covid-19, Khurai AC MLA L Susindro has asserted that the benefit of PMGKY food grains will not be given to any person in Khurai constituency from next month in case he/she does not get inoculated against Covid-19 .
He urged everyone to get the Covid vaccine and contribute their mite in defeating the pandemic.
In a video released on Thursday, Susindro cautioned that the pandemic is far from being contained despite continuous efforts as many people continue to hesitate from taking the jabs.
Owing to the public reluctance, there has been increasing number of Covid-19 positive cases in the constituency, he said.
Further pointing out that Fair Price Shop agents have started distributing PMGKY food grains to the beneficiaries amidst the troubling pandemic times, he said these agents are in a situation where they might contract the infectious disease.
As such, people need to understand and get the vaccine so as to prevent further spread of the infectious pandemic, reasoned the MLA.
While reiterating that the monthly PMGKY food grains in Khurai AC will not be given to those who did not vaccinate, Susindro also declared the government approval will be sought to ensure provision of PMGKY food grains only to those vaccinated people.
As such, all those non-vaccinated people need to inoculate against Covid at the vaccination centres set up in various places of the constituency within the current month, he exhorted.
Susindro stressed that Covid positive people who hide their illness have been transmitting the disease to others.
During the mass testing cum vaccination drive on Wednesday, 18 people including children were found to be infected with Covid-19.This should not be taken lightly, he added.
It is unfortunate that some political parties politicise the initiative taken up by government for containing the pandemic.
The government has been fighting the pandemic without any difference.
It is untimely for the political parties to give negative comments.
People are thoroughly aware who are working for the welfare of the people.
It is not the time to view on the narrow grounds of politics.
Instead everyone should join hands and fight the pandemic together, the MLA appealed.
