Van Dhan Vikas Karyakram inaugurated at Senapati

Senapati, December 09 2019:
The Senapati Forest Division, Senapati organized a District level Van Dhan Vikas Karyakram inaugural ceremony and training programme in collaboration with ACCORDS, Senapati on Saturday at Paomata Community Hall, Paomata.
Adahrii Maheo, Sub-Divisional Officer, Paomata graced the inaugural function as chief Guest.
During the programme, resource persons and experts from KVK, Henbung gave practical lessons to the members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) on how to process the raw materials from forests and convert it to sellable marketable goods.
Experts on accountancy and bookkeeping were also invited to impart knowledge about accountancy and register maintaining to the members of SHGs.
The Van Dhan Vikas Karyakram is an initiative launched by Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Ltd (TRIFED) under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.
It targets livelihood generation for tribals populace by harnessing the forest resources.
The programme aims to convert tribal wisdom into a viable economic activity by adding technology & IT into their traditional knowledge.
Initially, the Paomata Block Kendra having 22 Self Help Groups comprising of 313 members spread across 5 different villages like Paomata Centre, Makhufii, Tungjoy, Tungam and Saranamaiare have been chosen for pilot run under the Van Dhan Programme in Senapati District while Tadubi Rural Haat at Tadubi has been chosen as the market for selling the produces made by these SHGs.
During the programme, cheques and necessary equipments were also distributed to each of the 22 SHGs.
