Two-day seminar on environmental pollution and its impacts concludes

A two-day national seminar on "Environment pollution and its impacts on public health: Issues and challenges" came to a close today at the Multipurpose Hall of S Kula Women's College, Nambol.
The national seminar was sponsored by ICSSR New Delhi and organised by Department of Sociology and IQAC, S Kula Women's College.
Three delegates from outside the State took part in the seminar while 51 individuals presented papers on the subject of the seminar.
The event was graced by Professor G Tomba Sharma, former Principal DM College of Science; Dr T Brajakumar Singh, Director, Environment and Climate Change, Government of Manipur; Dr Phungreiso Varu, Executive Director, Public Health Aveofit Vasant Bihar, New Delhi; Dr H Nirendrakumar Singh Associate Professor Department of Community Medicine JNIMS; Ksh Sanahal Singh, general secretary, Science Teachers Forum Manipur and Dr W Robindro Singh, Principal, S Kula Women's College Nambol as the presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr T Brajakumar asserted that it is the duty of every citizen to conserve the environment.
There is only one habitable planet and it is imperative to save the planet and the environment for posterity, he maintained.
Highlighting the importance of the topic of the seminar, he said that human beings are dependent on their environment and should work collectively to combat the challenges of environment pollution.
Meanwhile, Dr Seram Bhogendro, Associate Professor, Sociology Department, S Kula Women's College and convenor of the national seminar, pointed out that the seminar was organised to spread awareness about the issues and challenges of environmental pollution and to mobilize the public to alleviate the situation.
As a part of the event, many books were also released.
