Naorem Rekha murder case : Charge hearing against accused husband on November 22

Imphal, November 08 2019: Session Judge, Imphal East, has fixed November 22 for the necessary charge hearing against Naorem Dijamani, in connection with the murder case of his wife, late Naorem Rekha, the mother of renowed fashion designer Robert Naorem.

Session Court Imphal East registered a special trial case today and fixed November 22 for the charge hearing over the death of his wife on May 29 this year.

It may be mentioned that, earlier the case was put up and committed before the Session Judge, Imphal West, from Chief Judicial Magistrate (Imphal West).

Last month, Session Court Imphal West had filed an application to the higher authority for transferring the case to another Court for the trial It may also be mentioned that on August 27, the IO of the case submitted the charge sheet against Naorem Dijamani (67) of Singjamei Mathak Thokchom Leikai.

On the same day, the Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West went through the charge sheet and took cognizance of the case.

The charge sheet mentioned that Naorem Dijamani was arrested three days after the incident, on April 2, as the main suspect in the murder case.

It also mentioned that during the entire course of investigation, it has been highly suspected that the crime is an inside job and Naorem Dijamani is the main suspect.

However, the investigation has not been able to unearth any absolute motive of the accused in killing his wife.

The charge sheet also expressed strong suspicion that marital discord could be the reason for the murder.
