ASHAs get mobile phones

With an aim to equip them with modern communication technology to speed up their works with more comfort, ASHAs, ASHA Facilitators, Staff Nurses and ANMs were given mobile phones during a function organized by the State Health Society, Manipur under the aegis of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) at the Banquet hall of Hotel Imphal here today.
Speaking as the Chief Guest of the function, Phungzathang Tonsing, Minister, Health and Family Welfare, stated that ASHAs are one of the most important components for successful implementation of NRHM.
He recalled that on earlier occasions, ASHAs in the state have been provided bicycles, radio sets, torch lights, thermometers, raincoats and umbrellas to help in their works.

The Minister maintained that the top status that Manipur has been able to maintain in the field of health care among the small states of the country is all because of the sacrifices and relentless duties performed by all the people involved in providing health care facilities to the people.
The function was also attended by Ramnganing Muivah, Principal Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Manipur; Divesh Deval, IAS, State Mission Director, State Health Society, Manipur; Dr Pradeep Haldar, DC (Child Health), MoHFW, Government of India and Padam Khana, Senior Consultant, PHP,NHSRC, Government of India as Guests of Honour.
Altogether 3878 ASHAs, 194 ASHA Facilitators, 470 ANMs and 220 SNs were given mobile phones on the occasion.
