Jiribam HSS students demand redressal of grievances

Jiribam, October 08 2024:
Students of Jiribam Higher Secondary School staged a sit-in protest in front of the school today demanding redressal of their grievances surrounding shortage and transfer of teachers by October 16.The protest demonstration was jointly organised by four student organisations of the district along with Jiribam Higher Secondary School Students' Union.
Speaking in this connection, Leishangthem Boby, secretary, games & sports, Jiribam Higher Secondary School Students' Union informed that a memorandum was submitted to the Education Minister to address the shortage of teachers in the school but to no avail.
The school currently needs six more teachers.
Additionally, an order instructing the transfer of a Chemistry teacher from Lilong Higher Secondary School to the school was issued on July 25.Stating that the teacher has not yet joined the school, he urged the concerned authority to look into the matter.
If these two grievances are not addressed by the concerned department by October 16, then student organisations of the district will join hands to launch a series of agitations, he cautioned.
