Emergency care unit inaugurated at Ukhrul

Ukhrul, October 07 2024:
The Ukhrul/Hunphun village in collaboration with 18th Assam Rifles on Monday set up an emergency care unit at Wino Outpost, Thahao to tend to all medical emergency cases for people who are enable to access the District Hospital, Hungpung.
Following the violent confrontation on October 2, many of the town folk were unable to access the hospital due to the volatile situation, fear and apprehension that continues to plague the mind of the innocent civilians.
The Headman of Ukhrul/Hunphun village, HA Khayaiwo, inaugurated the newly set up temporary emergency unit by cutting the ceremonial ribbon.
He thanked the Assam Rifles for providing all the logistical requirements and other physical needs for the establishment of the health centre.
The emergency unit will provide OPD services, tend to emergency cases and dedicated doctors and nurses will be stationed for 24 hours service.
During the inauguration programme, Captain of 18 AR Abhishek Grewal assured that Assam Rifles will ensure the safety of the public and will provide space or rooms required for the care unit.
He further mentioned that minimum force was used to contain the unfortunate incident of October 2 for the good of the general public.
More than 100 individuals were given treatment on the opening day of the emergency unit.
