Election held successfully in Bishnupur, Jiribam

The 5th General Panchayat Election, held at six revenue districts of the valley, was also organised at different areas of Bishnupur district today, from 8 am till 4 pm .
1,68,003 voters of Bishnupur district cast their vote at a total of 219 polling stations for the contest of 11 seats for Zilla Parishad, 24 for Pradhan and 162 for member .
The election was successfully organised with no commotion, under the supervision of SP Haobijam Jogeshchandra .
During the early part of the day, a minor scuffle was reported at the polling stations in Karang for Thanga part 1 Gram Panchayat, however, the situation was successfully controlled by the securities posted at the stations .
The election was also held peacefully without any major problem with voters coming out to casts their vote to a total of 57 polling station which is placed at six Panchayat areas of Jiribam district .
Among 57 polling stations, some of the stations were fully assigned to women polling officials, which marks the first of its kind in Jiribam Panchayat election .
According to report, polling station 1/3/4 of Lalpani pt – I, Jiribam recorded highest casting of vote (a percentage of 95.28% with 283 votes polled out of 297 total votes) while polling station 2/6/1 of Goukhal, Jiribam recorded lowest voting percentage of 68.66% (with 309 votes polled out of 450 total numbers of voters) among the 57 polling stations of Jiribam .
Out of 23058 voters in Jiribam Panchayat election, 81 per cent of the total casted their vote .
At around 8:15 pm, all the polling officials reported at the Deputy Commissioner Office, Jiribam with their respective polling station ballots boxes where the fate of 10 Zilla Parishad in two seats, 25 Pradhan in 6 seats and 153 wards members candidates in 96 seats will be decide on October 11 .
