9 Wangjing Councillors resolve to resign due to unbearable monetary demands

Thoubal, September 07 2024: Nine Councillors under Wangjing Lamding Municipal Council have resolved to collectively resign from office due to unbearable monetary demands made by different organizations.

The nine Councillors are Laishram Sanjit Singh (Ward No 1), Sagolsem Shanti Devi (Ward No 2), Yumnam Ibopishak Singh (Ward No 3), Thokchom Amitab Singh (Ward No 4), Narengbam Binoi Singh (Ward No 5), Heikrujam Gourango Singh (Ward No 6), Pechimayum Roni Devi (Ward No 7), M Nenishori Devi (Ward No 8) and Takhellambam Noren Singh (Ward No 9) from Wangjing Lamding Municipal Council.

According to a joint statement bearing the signatures of the aforementioned nine Councillors, the decision was taken during an emergency executive meeting of Wangjing Lamding Municipal Council after minute deliberation.

Stating that they have extended various forms of aid and assistance during the ongoing conflict, the joint statement informed that the Councillors resolved to resign following exorbitant and unbearable monetary demands.
