Fire victims seek help from Govt

Saying that a devastating inferno that engulfed six houses and properties worth nearly Rs 1.20 crore at Haiyang village on April 2 had put the victims of fire into immense suffering, the villagers appealed the concerned authority and State Government to intervene and look into the matter at the earliest.
It may be mentioned that the fire gutted houses belonging to Tongmang Kipgen, s/o Letkholal Kipgen; Letginthang Haokip, s/o Janglet Haokip; Thongkholun Haokip, s/o Ngamkhopao Haokip; Kamkhosei Kipgen, s/o Lunlal Kipgen; Letkhongam Haokip, s/o Ngamkhopao Haokip; and Nengnem Haokip, w/o Jamkhai Haokip to ashes including their belongings and properties worth approximately Rs 1.20 crore.
Speaking over phone, the village chief, Thongkam said that no one from Government dept has visited the village after the incident.
He also said that it would be very hard for the villagers to return to normalcy without the help from the Government due to the lack of motorable road connectivity.
Lalboi Haokip, president KSO Kamjong also appealed the concerned authority and State Government to immediately intervene and address the grievances and suffering of the fire victims at the earliest.
"How will leaders of political parties, who are campaigning for the development and welfare of the villagers, respond and react to the cry of Haiyang villagers, is remained to be seen", he added.
Haiyang village can be reached by travelling till Maokot village by vehicle via Chassad and walking on foot for 4/5 hours from Maokot village which is the last motorable village in the area.
