Cervical Cancer Awareness Month observed

The Chhabi Sahayog Foundation, Manipur Prant, in association with Dev Desh Pratisthan, Mumbai, and Dr Mane Medical Center and Research Foundation and Saidham Cancer Hospital, Shirdi organized Cervical Cancer Awareness Month today with a special event at Heirok Part 2, Maning Leikai, Thoubal district.
The event aimed to educate the community about cervical cancer, its prevention, early detection, and treatment, emphasizing the importance of regular screening and vaccination.
The workshop witnessed active participation from around 70 women of all age groups, community leaders, and healthcare professionals.
Key discussions were held on the causes and risk factors of cervical cancer, the significance of HPV vaccination, and the role of regular Pap smear tests in early detection.
The workshop was conducted by Dr Th Kamala Devi, Head of the Women's Wing, Chhabi Sahayog Foundation, Manipur Prant, and a cancer warrior herself along with Dr N Premi Devi, member of CSF, Manipur Prant and Momoka Salam, Sub Editor of Impact TV, both of whom are actively involved in promoting awareness about cervical cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment.
The workshop was honored by the presence of Ningthoujam Tamphasana Devi as president, Ningthoujam Maipak Thambalsana as chief guest and Ningthoujam Maipak Devi as guest of honour along with W Sanjoy, member of CSF Manipur Prant.
Speaking at the event, Dr Th Kamala, emphasized the importance of organising such awareness programmes to ensure that no woman suffers needlessly from cervical cancer, a preventable and treatable disease.
Through awareness and access to resources, the CSF Manipur Prant aims to empower women to take charge of their health, she added.
She also urged the need for both Government and private sector support to help Chhabi Sahayog Foundation, Manipur Prant to conduct more workshops, including screening and detection camps highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts in reaching underserved areas, ensuring early detection, and spreading awareness about cancer.
The session also provided participants with free counseling and information on accessing affordable screening and vaccination facilities.
Testimonials from cervical cancer survivors added a personal and impactful touch, inspiring attendees to prioritize their health.
This initiative is part of the Foundation's broader campaign, "We Provide Fearlessness," dedicated to fostering health, hope, and fearlessness in the fight against cancer across marginalized communities in Manipur.
