Manipur Medical Council Act to be implemented shortly

Imphal, November 06 2012: With an aim to provide necessary health care facilities and keep the people healthy, the State Government has successfully come with the Manipur Medical Council Act, 2009, which is all set to implement shortly.

According to sources in the State Health department, the Manipur Medical Council Act, 2009 has been finalized under the norms of Medical Council of India and the Government of Manipur issued a notification in the regard on May 28 last.

The sources revealed that although all the requirements including the rules and regulations of the Act were forwarded from Medical Council of India, necessary adjustments have been made in accordance to local context.

Reports and suggestions send from concerned authorities too have been discussed and analysed before finalization of the state Medical Council Act.

Apart from putting in place necessary arrangements for enforcing the Manipur Medical Act, 2009, the State Government is also in the process of formulating the required Manipur medical Council Rules.

It is quite hopeful that the Act would be enforced within this year, sources added.
