All four abducted drivers freed

All the four truck drivers who were abducted by unidentified armed miscreants coming in a Bolero jeep from near SB Petrol Pump under Ambrajan Police Station in Karbi Anglong district, Assam on May 27 around 11.30 pm, have been set free at Silchar this morning.
The four drivers are Soibam Khomei (43) s/o of S Iboyaima of Tekcham Maning Ching; his younger brother Soibam Sanatomba (26); Langpoklakpam Sarat (38) s/o L Prem of Keirak Dam and Elangbam Romen (30) s/o E Manibabu of Irengband Kakching.
However, all the four trucks have been seized by Ambrajan Police Station.
Addressing a press meet here at the office of All Manipur Road Transport Drivers' & Motor Workers' Union in connection with the case, the four drivers while recounting the kidnapping ordeal said that they were kept in a thick jungle for nine days guarded by around 20 armed persons who all looked like tribals.

They stated that there was one Manipuri speaking person amongst the armed miscreants who was responsible for serving monetary demand of Rs 30 lakhs to owners of the trucks through mobile phone and informed that the abductors seized money and mobile phones from them just after they were abducted.
They further informed that the abductors put them together in a Bolero jeep and set them free at a place in Silchar early this morning after giving them a sum of Rs 3000 as passenger fare.
H Kullamani, general secretary of Drivers' Union, who was also present at the press meet, said that drivers have been serving people of the State against all odds and such abduction cases have occurred many times in the past which is highly condemnable.
