Suspect in Pallel firing nabbed

Augustine Aimol (21), suspected to be involved in the Pallel firing incident was arrested in a dramatic way from North AOC on Wednesday night by a police team led by S.Ibocha, DIG Range II.
Augustine who is the son of Ngamshung Aimol of Aimol Satu was taking shelter in Tampha hotel in connection with the forthcoming ADC elections.
However, police who learnt his involvement in the crime were closing in.
After establishing that he was ensconced inside the hotel a decoy was sent in to lure him out.
Once he came out of the hotel he was formally arrested at 8:50 pm on Wednesday.

The Tengoupal police station had registered a case in connection with the indiscriminate firing in which one person was killed and four others wounded.
Police are interrogating him and the officials are tight lipped about information he may be disclosed.
He will be produced in a law court on Thursday where police will seek further remand as interrogation is not completed.
High tension prevails in curfew bound Pallel
Tensions run high in and around Pallel after killing one devotee and injuring 4 others by unknown miscreants at Aimol Satu.
The devotees were taking part in the ritual of Lai Lamthokpa of the local sylvan deity in between Pallel and Aimol Satu Village at around 9 pm on Tuesday.
Defying the Public Curfew, a large mob including women marched towards Pallel Police Station in the morning.
However, they were intercepted by strong Police forces at Pallel Mamang Leikai and prevented them from proceeding.
After stand-off with the Police personnel for several hours, the police personnel fired some tear gas shells and dispersed the mob.
During the melee some youths sneaked through Molnoi Area and went towards Aimol village.
However, Police personnel who were on duty chased them back.
Meanwhile, a team of United Committee Manipur (UCM) led by its President Elangbam Johnson rushed to Pallel and held talks with the villagers of Pallel and Aimol in order to bring about a peaceful solution.
Speaking to the media persons at Pallel President of UCM said that the committee talked with both villagers.
And the villagers and Chief of Aimol Satu also expressed their regrets over the unfortunate incident, added Johnson.
While thanking the villagers of Pallel for not flaring up communal tension, the UCM's President also told that the committee appealed to the people of Aimol Satu to hand over the culprit (s) for awarding punishment according to the law.
