Imphal, December 05 2011:
The JAC Against the Brutal Killing of Mutum Jewel alias Manichandra has demanded justice for the killing of Mutum Jewel alias Manichandra on October 21 last on his way to school and charged the government of trying to suppress the incident by concealing the post mortem report for so long.
Speaking to media persons at a press conference held at the office of NIPCO, L Nganbi, Convener JAC said that the JAC along with SP Radheshyam of Bishnupur District, Additional SP, OC and other police officials had a meeting on October 23 and discussed minutely the nature of the killing.
The JAC further demanded the police officials to reveal the post mortem report to the JAC at the earliest possible time.
After the police personnel asked them to approach the Forensic Science Laboratory, Pangei, the JAC went to the laboratory on October 31, where it was learnt that the post mortem report had just reached the lab, he added.
The JAC strongly condemned the late submission of the post mortem report by the police department to the Forensic Science Laboratory and called it unfortunate.
Again after the Forensic Science Laboratory asked the JAC to wait till November 12 for the final report, the police officials further extended the delivery date to November 25 .
But unfortunately, the post mortem report has still not been handed over to the JAC till date by the police on the ground that the SP was not free and is occupied with other important works.
The JAC warns the state government that it will resort to various agitations if the government continues with this delaying tactics.
The concern authorities should make available the post mortem report in the earliest possible time.
We should all see that such incident does not occur in future again.
