Imphal, October 04 2015:
The ongoing ban on visitors at Mapithel dam affected area has been lifted temporarily today, Mapithel Dam Affected Villagers Organisation (MDAVO), said in a statement.
The decision was taken during a joint sitting of the committee, advisors, village representatives held today at Ramrei village.
The gathering also came to an understanding to resume the ban on visitors as and whenever the organization feels necessary.

MDAVO had imposed the ban from July 25 to check visitors who come to enjoy the scene of water rising.
The visits, the statement said, had triggered agony and anger amongst the affected villagers.
As such, picnicking, recreation and fishing activities were prohibited in the area temporarily by the organisation.
The organization further said it will resume the ban whenever they consider it needful.
