Govt-JCILPS talks on ILP derailed

Consequent to the failure of the proposed talks between the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) and the State Government due to non-release of the Executive member of JCILPS Advocate Arjun by the latter, the former has resolved to step up its agitation which would include banning entry of non-locals without proper identification documents into the localities of the state.
This was announced by Ibotombi Khuman, Convenor of JCILPS during a press meet held at its office at Nongmeibung here today.
Following an invitation from the state government for first phase of talks on the issue of implementation of ILP system in Manipur, JCILPS forwarded an acceptance note setting the condition for release of Advocate Arjun to the government, Ibotombi stated.
However, the state government has not released its executive member till the day of talks today, he lamented while informing the media that it led to the failure of the proposed interaction between the Government and the Committee.
Announcing that the Committee along with the people would continue with severe forms of agitations, he disclosed that entry of non-locals without proper identify proofs will be banned from September 5 .
Non-locals without identity proofs would be either handed over to police or made to return to their native places, the convener stated while appealing to the rent-owners to be vigilant on their non-local tenants.
Appealing to the house owners not to shelter such outsiders, the JCILPS convenor announced that human-chain protest will be staged at various places on September 8, while widespread sit in protest and torch rallies will be held on September 10.Talking to media persons, Co-convener Kh.
Ratan took strong exception to the indifferent attitude of the state government on the issue of ILP system in Manipur.
He pointed out that intrusion of non-locals has been rampant in the midst of the ongoing issue of Inner Line permit system in the state.
Co-convener JK Mangangcha, while informing the media of the formation of its Task Force Committee, said various forms of protests will be organized by the Committee.
During the press meet, members of women's wing and students' wing of JCILPS were
also present.
