Farm Machinery banks coming up in rural areas

Along with availing agriculture input materials, to farmers at subsidised rate, farm machinery banks would be opened at selected villages in rural areas as a measure to boost farm mechanisation in the State under the National Mission on Seed and Technology of the Twelfth-Five Year Plan.
There has been a proposal for constitution of Sub-mis-sion on Agricultural Mechanisation under the National Mission on Seed and Technology in the Twelfth-Five Year Plan which will be implemented from the financial year 2013-14 .
Under the Sub-Mission, agriculture input materials including tanker and power tiller would be availed at subsidised rate to farmers besides opening Farm Machinery Banks at selected villages in rural and hill areas.
This was stated by Farm Mechanisation In-charge of the State Agriculture department, K Manoranjan while talking to media persons on the sideline of the three-day State Level Krishi Mela at Iboyaima Shanglen.
He said there has been adequate stock of farm machineries while adding that there is a process for purchasing more machines.
Manoranjan said the Farm Mechanisation of the Agriculture department is exerting all out efforts for the improvement of farm mechanisation for better harvest with the use of machines.
He also appealed farmers to avail benefits of the welfare programme while also assuring possible assistance from the department side.
