All Manipur Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) Worker's Union has urged the State Government to address the grievances of Asha workers at the upcoming Assembly session and increase their honorarium by adding the State share.
As per a press release issued by the ASHA Worker's Union, the Union staged a sit-in protest against the State Government's failure to address their long pending demands at Irawat Bhawan today.
The protest was staged after a special meeting was convened with the attendance of Th Pumimashi Devi, president, ASHA Worker's Union; Samita Begum, vice-president; L Sotinkumar, general secretary, AITUC Manipur and Kh Shamungou, secretary.
According to the press release, ASHA Worker's Union launched a cease work strike from January 23, 2025 as the Government failed to increase their honorarium.
If the Government fails to discuss the issue at the State Assembly session which is set to begin from February 10, then the Union will take up more democratic forms of protests, it added.
