Imphal, September 03 2016:
The NSCN (K) has refuted the claim issued by the PIB (Defence Wing) that two of its cadres who were involved in snatching arms from IRB personnel on August 29 have been arrested during a joint operation conducted by a combined force of Assam Rifles and Manipur police at Sibilong.
The two who have been pulled up are not cadres of the outfit, said NSCN (K) in a statement and added that they are innocent civilians who are not in any way related with the outfit.
The desperate act of the security forces in randomly arresting innocent civilians is a reflection of their utter failure to meet the challenges posed by the elite strike of the outfit, claimed the statement.
The protest by the women folks of the village against their arrest and the violent suppression of the protest is itself a testimony that the two civilians are being made scapegoats, added the statement.
The civil authorities concerned and human rights groups should intervene and ensure the release of the innocent civilians, it added.
