Imphal, August 03 2020:
On the 5th observance of the 3rd August 2015 Framework Agreement between Government of India (Gol) and the NSCN, the Khurmi Naga Peoples' Organization (KNPO) along with the Naga Frontal Organizations of Khurmi (viz NSUC, NWUC, NCAC, CDCF) and the Federating Tribe Units sincerely have appealed the GoI to translate their commitment to a permanent political solution, stated a statement of KNPO.
The statement said that after five years of the Framework Agreement the Nagas now want a political settlement based on the Framework Agreement through the principles of shared sovereignty and peaceful co-existence as two entities.
Today, the Nagas too are asserting its right for 'right to self determination' based on its 'unique history and situations of the Nagas' which was recognized in 2002 by the GoI, it further said.
In the journey to uphold 'peace', the Nagas have come forward to appreciate the GoI for the historic steps embarked thus far.
However, the 'dual role' of RN Ravi as Interlocutor to 'misinterpret' the Framework Agreement and as the Governor to manipulate the Indian governance system and the lackadaisical attitude of GoI has hurt the Nagas, it said.
RN Ravi must not take the Indo-Naga peace process for granted; the ongoing process is a recorded documentation; nothing can have distorted interpretation, it said.
"We also urge our respected Interlocutor to understand why the Naga National struggle has sustained and survived.
Every Naga family alive today has undergone a struggle of ordeals suppressed and physically exploited.
These crimes against humanity must stop," it said.
The Naga Frontal Organizations of Khurmi stands for early political settlement as envisaged in the Framework Agreement, said the statement and urged to expedite implementation of new relationship between the two entities.
