One day legal awareness programme on cyber crime held at Moirang College

A one day legal awareness programme on cyber crime was organised by Legal Aid Clinic Moirang under the aegis of Manipur State Legal Services Authority and District Legal Services Authority Bishnupur at Moirang College today.
District & Session Judge as well as District Legal Services Authority Chairman Ngaineikim Kipgen attended the event as the chief guest while Moirang College vice Principal RK Ratankumar
Singh attended as functional president and Judicial Magistrate First Class Bishnupur Margaret Niangsiakim as guest of honour.
Para legal volunteers from different parts of the State took part in the legal awareness programme.
Speaking at the programme as a resource person Child Line Bishnupur Director Pishak Singh and Advocate Y Ramananda Singh talked on "Role of civil society to control cyber crime" and "Cyber crime and its legal perspectives respectively".
They also stressed in detail on cyber crime, what kind of people commits such crime, role of CSOs in fighting cyber crime, legal punishment for committing cyber crime etc.
District and Session Judge Ngaineikim Kipgen stated that the use of smart phones has increased tenfold, especially among the people residing at far flung areas.
He further stated that the availability of internet services in these smart phones has led them to misuse the technology while lack of awareness on cyber crimes and committing actions which can be considered as a crime eventually lead to cyber crimes.
Appealing all to be aware of such crimes, he urged all to contribute in fighting and preventing cyber crimes in the State.
