Imphal, July 02 2019:
The Eastern Vaiphei Co-ordination Committee has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister demanding immediate intervention with regard to the lacklustre execution of PMGSY work on the road from Kamuching to Gotangkot, under Saikul subdivision.
The memo clarified that the claims made by the EE of PIU-III, Senapati, RED/MSRRDA, in some local dailies that around 4.5 kilometres of road construction have been completed so far, are totally baseless and different from the ground reality.
It explained that the length of the completed work is just around 500 metres from Kamuching side and just around 1800 metres from the end point.
Moreover the width of the road is just 10 feet even though it is supposed to be 24 feet as per PMGSY guidelines.
Most of the claimed completed works are just clearing of some bushes, trees and partial cutting of the already existing road, it alleged.
The memo further negated the claim that the work is on in full swing and informed that except for a few weeks of work in the initial days and a few weeks of work before and after media highlighted the issue, the work has been halted for most of the time.
It continued that the reason cited by the EE that the work was discontinued due to some local issues, need proper investigation as the EVCC, Vaiphei village chiefs and the locals of Kamuching, have always been extending moral and physical support and cooperation towards the execution of the said PMGSY work.
Cautioning that the committee will not remain a silent spectator any longer, it appealed to the Chief Minister to take up necessary steps and do the needful at the earliest.
