Government abolishes Bengali High School

Manipur Government has abolished the Bengali High School, Bapupara while the School is undergoing half yearly examination of this year.
Shocked by the news seven students who came to appear the exam were hospitalized.
A special messenger sent by Manipur Govt.came on Wednesday with the order and informed the school authorities of the governments' decision to abolish the school.
Half yearly examination for 2015-16 of the school was started from Wednesday onwards.
But when the students turned up again on Thursday for their exams the school authorities declared the state government's decision.
On hearing the bizzare news some students started crying and some of them had fainted.

Meanwhile, All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) on Thursday strongly condemned the state government's policy for abolishing of Bengali Primary and High School, Babupara and trying to establish a Ramkrishna Mission Centre, Imphal.
Speaking to the media persons in their office AMSU HRD Secretary N Kapil Chandra said that Department of Education (s) has issued an order for abolishing the school after the school session had already started and in fact now in the middle of the school exam.
Kapil further said the state government has shown its immature policy in the Education Department and urged to immediately revoke the order.
The school is situated in the zero kilometers from the Chief Minister's office and BOSEM.
He said "if the government failed to smoothly function in this area, what could be the situation in the far-flung areas of the state"? It also shows the governments' dismal failure in the Education Department and demanded to form long term policy in the government school.
The Bengali High School was established in 1903 and still run by 15 teachers for 103 students.
The most interesting is that when the student body made enquiry about the norms and criteria for abolishing the school in the Board, the Board officials reply was that the norms and rules are still being drafting, Kapil added.
The Students' Union threatened to launch strong form of agitation if the government fails to revoke the order.
Meanwhile, according to an order issued by Joint Secretary (Education-S), Government of Manipur, Abdul Salam said that the Governor of Manipur is pleased to accord approval to the abolition of Bengali Primary School (Class I-V and Bengali High School (Class VI-X), Babupara to facilitate the establishment of Ramkrishna Mission Centre at Imphal.
The students reading in Class I to V will be transferred to Moirangkhom Junior High School and Students reading in Class VI to X will be transferred to Shyamasakhi High School, Moirangkhom and the teaching and non teaching staff of the abolished schools will report to the director of Education (S) for further deployment and all the movable asserts like furniture, library books, TML, equipments, officials records will be handed over to the Director of Educations (S) to make further allocation to the schools where it needed.
