Accused in auto driver's murder arrested

Imphal, July 02 2013:
A person has been arrested by police in connection with the death of auto driver Laishangbam Deben (46) s/o L Thoiba of Mantripukhri Lamlongei, who was found murdered near Khuman Lampak Water Supply Scheme on June 30 last.
The arrested person has been identified as Kshetrimayum Ibomcha (50), s/o Ksh Gokul of Tellou Chana Mamang Leikai under Lamlai Police Station in Imphal-East.
He is said to be a mason by profession.
A team of Imphal East Police raided the house of accused Ibomcha today morning.
He was not at home at the time of the raid.
However, the police picked his wife and uncle for interrogation.
Later, Ibomcha surrendered to Lamlai Police Station.
Talking to media persons, SDPO Modhunimai stated that the accused used a hammer and an iron rod while murdering Deben.
He had some personal enmity with the deceased auto driver, the police officer disclosed.
SDPO Modhunimai appreciated the public for their support and cooperation given to the police to apprehend the culprit.
Meanwhile, the dead body of driver Deben has been handed over to family members after conducting post-mortem at RIMS Hospital today.
