Pensioners stick to 7th Pay demand

Imphal, April 02 2018:
Pressing the demand for implementation of 7th Pay scale for the State Government employees at the earliest, Manipur State Pensioners' Union staged a sit-in-protest at Singjamei Chingamakhong market shed today.
Talking to media persons, L Tombi, president of the union said that the 7th Pay had already been put in place in others States.
He demanded the 7th Pay scale be implemented for the State Government employees at the earliest failing which different forms of intense agitation will be launched.
He said that the union, Manipur State Federation and Manipur State Government Employees' Union have been launching different modes of agitation demanding implementation of 7th Pay scale but to no avail.
He conveyed that sit-in-protests in pursuit of the demand will also be held at Kakching on April 5 to be followed by Bishnupur on April 6 and Jiribam.
He added that the union had suspended its agitation after an agreement was reached between it and the Chief Secretary on October 25 of last year.
