Imphal, February 02 2014:
A protest demonstration was staged today at Tera Lukram Leirak Keithel against hurling a bomb at the residence of one Soibam Ranjitkumar of the locality.
Soibam Ranjitkumar (55) is a Agriculture Officer posted at Kangpokpi and his wife Nilima is Mahila Congress president of Patsoi Assembly constituency.
Nilima who was also present at the protest demonstration said that there is no case of monetary demand from any quarter.
Yet some unidentified persons hurled and set off a powerful bomb at their courtyard at about 6.30 pm yesterday.
Nilima also appealed to all concerned to explain who carried out the bomb attack and why.
The impact of the bomb blast which was carried out without giving any reason or warning shook Ranjitkumar's house, according to Nilima.
It also damaged several portions of the house wall as well as car.
Had there been any one in the courtyard, there would have been fatal casualty, said Nilima while appealed to all concerned to refrain from such violent activities in future.
Lukram Elizabeth, one of the protesters, said that bomb blasts have become a common occurrence.
Frequent bomb blasts have seriously affected mental health of young students and children, and they are overwhelmed with a fear psychosis.
Even as many people have appealed repeatedly to explain who carried out these bomb attacks in residential areas and why, no UG groups came forward to clear people's confusion.
At the same time, the Government is unable to identify or pull up perpetrators of these unlawful activities.
The protesters put up placards which read as "Stop bomb culture", "We want peace", "What do you gain by unleashing violence and sense of fear among civilians?", "Why hurl explosives in civilian areas if you are fighting for the national cause ?" etc.
