N Sanahal, president of All India Students Federation (AISF) Manipur Unit has said that AISF and Socialist Student Union of Manipur (SSUM) will start monitoring Government run educational institutions.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press club today, Sanahal alleged that the Educational Department has been over run with rampant corruption and said that the two organisations will start monitoring all Government run educational institutions ranging from primary to higher secondary schools from the second week of January.
He said, "The drive has been conceptualised with the aim of uprooting corruption from the Education Department.
AISF and SSUM will christen 2017 as the Year for Struggle Against Corruption" .
Sanahal explained that the drive will not be limited only to schools but will also cover colleges and other educational institutions located at various kendra.
"The organisations will take serious note of teachers who fail to perform their duties, students who fail to follow their responsibility and cases of misuse of college/school funds", he said.
Local clubs and guardians will also take part in the drive, he added.
Sanahal along with Ngangom Samson, gen secy of SSUM, also extended New year greetings to the people of the State on behalf of the two organisations.
