Kejriwal apprised with plights of NE

The All India Tribal Students' Association (AITSA) has apprised the newly sworn-in Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal the plight of the North East people residing in the national capital.
In a memorandum submitted to the Aam Admi Party (AAP) chief and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, the AITSA highlighted the background of the people of the North East and said special a special arrangement should be made for them so that they can no longer have the feeling of alianation in the national capital.
"We are neither in a position to compete with the people from the mainstream and do not enjoy the recognition of the government.
Our rural backgrounds, distinct features and dearth of employment opportunities in the capital made us to be most vulnerable section of the society in the national capital," the memorandum stated.
It then recalled, "The AITSA has been pleading for the inclusion of Scheduled Tribe (ST) in the list of reserved category of Delhi since the year 1996 but to no avail.
Contrary to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) notification vide OM.No 7/2/55-SCT dated 14/10/1955; the Congress government has done away whatsoever, the Home Ministry had kept for the Scheduled Tribes in the national capital.
Though there is no official order on the removal of ST community from the list of reserved category for employment under the Delhi government and its civic bodies (MCD, NDMC etc), ST candidates are hardly considered for selection by the Delhi Subordinate Service Selection Board (DSSSB)even if we are eligible." The memorandum then alleged that due to the distinct physical features of the North East people, at times they are not even allowed to apply job in an unreserved posts presumably on the ground that the posts are not meant for ST candidates.
"Thousands of educated men and women are doing odd jobs without having any job security, and living without any recognised social status in Delhi though we have voting cards," the AITSA pointed out.
"Therefore, in view of the above circumstances, we earnestly pray that your honour, graciously extend a helping hand in this noble cause in the interest of natural justice and national integration," the Kejriwal apprised with plights of NE national capital," the memorandum stated.
