Ngangbam Thoiba, secretary of the Committee while addressing media persons informed that the committee has been safeguarding the Sambei Purum Reserved Forest area and stated that owing to the ban imposed by the committee on hunting activities in the area, such activities have reduced tremendously.
However, if anyone is found carrying out such hunting activities, appropriate legal actions will be taken up against them with the help of the Forest Department, he added.
He went on to state that due to the continued efforts of the committee to protect the Sambei Purum Reserved Forest area, now the forest has abundant trees which has become a thriving place for various species of wild animals and birds.
Alleging that residents of other villages are still carrying out hunting activities in the forest, he appealed to all concerned to refrain from such activities to avoid any unwanted outcome.
