Babysana death case: Students hold candle light protests

Kakching/Thoubal, July 31 2019: Demanding justice for N Babysana, All Manipur Students' Union Kakching District Committee joined hands with Kha-Manipur College Students' Union and organised a candlelight protest at Irabot Park Kakching today.

During the protest, the students shared the grief and pain of the bereaved family members and demanded arrest of all involved in the case.

They appealed the police and State Government to conduct thorough investigation to bring out the truth behind the mysterious death of Babysana.

Meanwhile, ABVP Thoubal unit has also organised a similar candle light protest today.

The unit will continue signature campaign and other form of democratic protests till justice is served, said a statement of Laishram Eli Devi, secretary ABVP Thoubal Unit.

Students of Saraswati Coaching Institute Heirok Heituppokpi Mamang Leikai also staged sit-in demanding speedy investigation and justice for Babysana at Heirok Part-I yesterday.

The students raised several slogans demanding justice and stringent punishment to all involved in the death case.

N Babysana of Thangmeiband Maisnam Leikai, a Class VII student was found allegedly hung to death mysteriously inside the hostel room of the Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School, Canchipur on July 18.Many civil society organisations and student bodies have been demanding swift action from police in the case and deliver justice to bereaved family members.

It may be mentioned that Pheiroijam Robinson, s/o Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School Principal Pheiroijam Landhoni has been remanded to police custody for seven days yesterday in connection with the case.
