Cycle club organises Critical Mass-IV

A real campaign to promote bicycle as a key means for transport in Manipur was resurfaced again in Imphal town with cycle enthusiast conducted a group ride by staging 'Critical Mass-IV' on Sunday afternoon.
Newly formed Manipur Cycle Club(MCC) sponsored the Critical Mass-IV which was kicked off from the Dhanamanjuri College of Science campus around 2.45pm passed through the road leading to Khoyathong junction, Kangla pat, Raj Bhavan-Chief Minister's bunglow route, Moirangkhom, Singjamei Super Market and converged at Singjamei Chingamakha basketball ground for a brief gathering cum BMX cycle show.
The idea behind the continuation of Critical Mass--gathering of cycling enthusiasts in a place and then conducting a ride in a city or town,is to promote cycle in the north eastern state is to reduce congestion, air and noise pollution, reduce carbon footprint in addition to promotion of a healthier lifestyle in this era of climate change and global warming.
Besides it also aims to revive the shrinking bicycle lane and parking lots in the City Development Plan of Imphal under Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Property Alleviation's Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission(JNNURM) programme in Manipur.
In this regard MCC is all set to submit a memorandum to the state chief minister O Ibobi Singh sooner or later,sources available here said.Sunday's Critical Mass-IV was participated by more than 50 cycle enthusiasts working in diverse fields besides a group young BMX riders team.
