Imphal, June 30 2015 :
Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) will spearhead a protest against the State Government for failing to act against the false claim of Siroi Hills being located in Nagaland in the Nagaland Board textbooks of Classes IX and X.Students will protest by wearing black badges from tomorrow onwards.
A press meet was held today at the KSA office at Uripok to announce the protest.
KSA general secretary said that the Class IX and Class X textbooks prescribed by Nagaland Board has mentioned that Siroi Lilies are found only in the 'Siroi Mountains of Nagaland State', which is totally false and misleading.
After finding out the discrepancy, the association demanded the Manipur Chief Minister, Education Minister, Forest Minister and the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) to take up correction measures at the earliest by contacting their counterparts of Nagaland.
The association submitted the memorandum to them on June 8.However, the State government has not taken up the needful action so far and the deadline for the fulfilment of the demand set by KSA has already expired.
In such a situation, it has decided to launch the black-badge protest.
If the State Government still shows its negligence on this matter, KSA will launch further severe actions, S Bidyananda added.
KSA also appealed to the Government and all members of the House to bring out this matter and discuss it at the ongoing session of Manipur Legislative Assembly.
