Imphal, June 30 2011:
Instead of suppressing the budding industrialists, farmers and entrepreneurs who are playing an important role in developing the economy of the state, people should give them support to bring about a better future for the state, said SP Bishnupur district Th Radheshyam.
Speaking as chief guest in the 8th Foundation Day Celebration function of the Kangla Food Products, SP Radheshyam said that the role of Kangla Food Products in the present economy of the state is praiseworthy.
Almost every household items used by the people of the state are imported from other parts of the country or the world.
In such a time, Kangla Food Products has been offering efforts in developing the economy of the state by preventing at least a fraction of the amount which would have gone away outside from the state by producing some food items which the people of the state prefer with great taste.
People should support such industries in the state and encourage them to set up better and larger production units.
They should also stand against any disturbances forced upon them by any individual or groups, he added.
AMWJU president Ahongsangbam Mobi who also attended the function said that AMWJU will face all threats or bans imposed by any organisations to the newspaper houses and AMWJU.
Even if they imposed a ban on newspapers, all newspapers in the state will publish their dailies and stand against such threats.
Likewise, people in other sectors should also stand firm against such threats.
Freedom is impossible in a society where there is no economic liberty, he said.
In a speech, ISTV Network Editor Y Rupachandra said that people in the state are under the constant grip of a fear which prevents them from taking up any developmental works for the welfare of the individual as well as the state.
In such a situation, the stand and effort of Kangla Food Products to set up a production unit should be supported and encouraged in every possible way.
He said, many industrialists, farmers or entrepreneurs who have begun to climb the ladder of success have either stepped down or left for other states.
In the keynote address, Managing Director, Kangla Food Products Akhom Birendra said that Kangla Food Products was established in June 30, 2004 with only eight workers.
He faced many inconveniences and difficulties like monetary demands, bandhs, blockades, unavailibility of petrol and price rise of raw products in his journey of eight years.
He also said that he had acquired an area of land in Guwahati to set up a unit of the factory there.
The area was acquired under a lease agreement of 30 years with the Assam Government.
The unit will be inaugurated in July this year.
