One arrested for uploading brutality to animal video

Thoubal, April 30 2020: Thoubal police under the aegis of SP Dr S Ibomcha arressted one individual who uploaded a video of killing a deer by some unknown miscreants in social media on Wednesday.

He has been handed over to Thoubal Forest Division.

The person has been identified as Abung Maibam, S/o Maibam Ladu Singh of Salungpham Kang Yambem Leikai, Thoubal.

An investigation has been proceeded to nab all who are involved in killing the wild animal.

As per police, the gruesome incident took place on April 27 at Maryland Village under Machi Police Station of Tengnoupal district.

In the meantime, Abung said that he captured the video as he saw some individuals killing the deer while he was out to collect vegetables from a nearby hill.

It is reported that the companions of the arrested person have been called up by the Forest Department.

On the other hand, volunteers of the Joint Coordination Committee on Wildlife and Biodiversity (JCCWB) and staff of Thoubal Forest rounded up two people who laid a bird trap at Oinam Sawombung under Wangoi Police Station along with 12 birds and a trap.

The duo have been identified as Md Asif Bogimayum (24), S/o Md Nasirkasim Ali from Lilong Sambrukhong and Amuba Karimayum (24), S/o Md Rashid Lilong Makha Leikai, S/o Md Rashid from Lilong Makha Leikai.

The seized birds have been released to a safe habitat.
