Mass Covid awareness programme, vaccination drive conducted

Imphal, January 31 2022: A mass awareness programme on COVID-19 was held at various market places of the State today organised by United People's Administrative Council (UPACO) .

The awareness programme was organised under the aegis of Committee on COVID-19 Manipur (formed by CADA, UPF, NIPCO, AMSU, UPACO, MAPI Council) as a part of its continued efforts to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic effectively thereby spreading awareness among the masses regarding the impacts and the preventive measures of COVID-19, said a press release by the Committee.

The awareness programme was conducted at market places of Waikhong, Elangkhangpokpi, Thongjao, Thounaojam and Kakching district where the committee members appealed the market vendors,customers and shopkeepers to strictly follow Covid appropriate behaviours such as maintaining physical distance, to wear masks at all times especially at public places, washing hands frequently etc to curb the further spread of Coronavirus.

The public were also sensitized on the adverse effects of the pandemic if proper measures are not taken up at the appropriate time.

The members also distributed face masks to the public.

Also a Covid vaccination programme for 18 years and below was held at Waikhong High School and Holy Cross School, Waikhong today.

Around 70 individuals were given the Covid jab in the vaccination drive which was organised by UPACO in coordination with Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Kakching, added the press release. Meanwhile Celin Digital also carried on with its campaign against COVID-19 by organising a COVID-19 awareness cum poster campaign at Loitang Khunou in Sekmai Assembly Constituency.

Celin Digital in a statement said that during the campaign, producer of Celin Digital, Phanjoubam Lanajit appealed to all to strictly adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of COVID-19 laid by WHO, ICMR and other authorities concerned since there is no cure for Covid at the moment.He also called for concerted efforts to fight against the pandemic successfully.
