NE's first Advance Endoscopy Centre opened at ILDS Hospital

The Institute of Liver & Digestive Sciences (ILDS) Hospital Manipur has announced the establishment of the first Advanced Endoscopy Centre in the entire North-East region, following a successful inspection by the Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India (SGEI) which is the highest Endoscopic Body in India.
The announcement was made by Dr N Suraj Kumar, Director, ILDS, on Wednesday during a press conference held at the hospital in Kwakeithel Heinoukhongnembi.
Dr N Suraj Kumar said, "This significant achievement places ILDS Hospital at the forefront of advanced medical care in the region, bringing cutting-edge endoscopic services closer to home for the people of the North-East".
He recounted that the application for the inspection of the Advanced Endoscopy Centre was submitted on May 27, 2024 .
"After meticulous preparations, the SGEI conducted a thorough inspection on September 29, 2024, during which the hospital's facilities, technology and specialized team were evaluated.
After the inspection, the society accredited the Endoscopy facility at ILDS as an Advanced Endoscopy Centre on October 21", he added.
The Director continued that this state-of-the-art centre is equipped with die latest technology, including ERCP, Endoscopic Ultrasound, Cholangioscopy with Electrohydro Lithotripsy, Single Balloon Enteroscopy, Artificial Intelligence Supported Endoscopy and Advance Therapeutic procedures to address Gastrointestinal, Liver, Pancreatic and Biliary diseases.
"With the centre, ILDS has become the first institution in the NE to offer such specialized care under one roof, reducing the need for patients to travel to distant locations for treatment", he asserted.
Furthermore, Dr N Suraj Kumar mentioned that the establishment of the centre underscored ILDS Hospital's dedication to expanding healthcare infrastructure and providing high-quality accessible medical services.
