Chief Minister N Biren Singh has sent his greetings and wishes on the occasion of Mera Hou Chongba, which falls on October 31 .
Mera Hou Chongba is celebrated on the full-moon day of Manipuri lunar calendar month Mera.
The festival endeavours to promote brotherhood, peace and unity among indigenous communities living in the hill and the valley of the State.
It marks the solidarity among the different ethnic groups in Manipur and symbolises "our belief" in the principle of pluralism and coexistence.
"Let us together reaffirm our unyielding commitment to maintain unity and harmony among our different communities," said the Chief Minister in his message.
Speaker, Manipur Legislative Assembly Y Khemchand also sent his greetings on the occasion.
The festival remembers the bond of brotherhood, togetherness, love and respect between ethnic communities before they parted to live in different settlements, he said, wishing the people.
Works Minister Th Biswajit Singh, Social Welfare Minister O Henry, CAF&PD Minister Th Satyabrata Singh also sent their greetings and wished for the festival to bring peace, prosperity and foster the bond of brotherhood among the communities in the State.
