Imphal, August 30 2014 :
The All Manipur Muslim Girls Students' Union observed its 7th foundation day today at Kuki Inn, Imphal today.
The programme was graced by Parliamentary Secretary MOBC and Science and Technology Md Amin as the chief guest.
A Halim, (Retd) Chairman, Manipur State Minority Commission; Zakir Muhammad, Additional SP; MS Khan, Project Director, MOBC were the guests of the the foundation day programme.
During his speech, Md Amin asserted that due to lack of proper upbringing by the parents, Manipuri Muslim students in the State are limited only to the opportunities of a minority.
Muslims are known all over the world for their brilliance in various fields of education and development.
However, Muslims in Manipur have failed to realize this fact.
Lauding numerous initiatives taken up by AMMGSU for the welfare of girls' education, Md Amin said that percentage of educated women in Muslim community remains low till date and the reason behind this fact is because of the notion of most of the Muslims that education being imparted in English language can divert the ways and teachings of Islam amongst the people.
If one needs to pave way for a successful life in this present society, an individual must be able to think beyond its limited belief and get education.
Rukshar Choudhary, president, AMMGSU, during her presidential speech said, "All the communities must develop in order to attain a developed society.
Manipuri Muslims particularly girls are yet to get freedom to go to school and be educated like any other girls in the society.
Therefore, to march together as one against the differences, AMMGSU was formed.
I would like to urge the people in the society to support our cause and help us in building a successful and a developed society" .
