Imphal, July 30 2015: A senior Lieutenant of the proscribed RPF/PLA was apprehended by troops of 45 Assam Rifles from near CMC Hospital Koirengei, Imphal East district under Heingang police station at around 9.30 pm yesterday.

The apprehended leader identified as Hijam Premjit alias Jingboi (41) s/o H Iboyaima of Singjamei Mongkhang Lambi was working as an administrative officer of the outfit in Churachandpur district.

Acting on his disclosure, the AR troops conducted a search operation in Phaknung area last night itself.

One 9 mm pistol marked as Beretta USA, three live rounds, one magazine, two hand grenades and a mobile phone were recovered from Phaknung.

Premjit has been handed over to Heingang police station along with the recovered items, sources said.

Meanwhile, a combined team of Bishnupur district police commando and 12 Bihar Regiment arrested one KYKL cadre while conducting a search operation at Nambol Kongkham Makha Leikai on July 27 .

According to a statement issued by the PRO of Police Dept, the arrested cadre has been identified as Leishangthem Ibohal Meetei alias Loya (50) s/o L Rabichandra Meetei of Nambol Kongkham Makha Leikai.

Investigation revealed that he had served demand letters to five Congress MLAs of Bishnupur district, it said.

A case has been registered at Nambol PS and investigation is going on.

In another incident, a combined team of Thoubal district police commando and 22 AR arrested one active cadre of KCP (Noyon) while conducting a search operation in Kakching Wairi area yesterday.

The arrested cadre has been identified as Leishangthem Rajkumar alias Naoba alias Tomba (23) s/o L Muhindro Singh of Kakching Wairi Senapati Leikai, the Police PRO statement said.

Investigation revealed that he was involved in three different encounters with security forces.

A case has been registered at Nongpok Sekmai PS and investigation is going on, it added.
