Indefinite sit-in protest launched at Kakching

Kakching, November 29 2024:
An indefinite sit-in protest has been launched by locals ofKakching at Naohallai Laibung in Kakching Bazar demanding the unconditional release of eleven persons arrested by the police under different charges.
The indefinite protest was organised by CSOs along with locals and Meira Paibis of Kakching.
Speaking by the sideline of the protest one woman protester said that, in the wake of the killing of six civilians including women and children by Kuki militants at Jiribam, an outraged mob stormed the house of Kakching MLA M Rameshwar and vandalized the residence.
On the charge of attacking the MLA's house, four youths were arrested by police.
Additionally.
another 7 people were arrested during an agitation demanding the unconditional release of the previously arrested four youths, said the protester.
The protesters called upon the Government to facilitate immediate and unconditional release of the 11 persons, failing which the public along with CSOs will continue more intense agitation, added the protesters.
