Imphal, September 29 2024:
Laishram Bobby, Chairperson of Imphal West Zilla Parishad, has appealed to State Government to uphold the High Court of Manipur's order on the functioning of the Administrative Committee constituted under the Panchayati Raj Act.
Speaking to media persons, L Bobby appealed to all the MLAs to respect the order passed by the High Court of Manipur on September 26 and refrain from taking any rash action which undermines the High Court or violates the Panchayati Raj Act.
She said that since the formation of the Administrative Committee in March 2024, members of the Committee have been working tirelessly to help the job card holders by providing work for 100 days.
"However, ignoring all these, the Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West District issued an order putting on hold the wages of the job card holders of 5 Panchayats under Lamsang AC and 4 Panchayats under Langthabal AC", she added.
She asserted that a memorandum was submitted to the DC on September 17 and funds for the job card holders were released on September 19 .
She continued that in a surprising move, the DC issued an order on September 20 removing some Members from the Administrative Committee of these 9 Panchayats without giving any prior information or reason for the dismissal.
"Subsequently, the Members of the Administrative Committee who were unfairly dismissed decided to approach the Court to seek justice", said L Bobby.
