Imphal, September 29 2020:
The Monsang Tribe Union today convened a consultative meeting of Monsang Tribe leaders at SUR community hall, Japhou at 10 am to discuss the ongoing Indo-Naga peace process between the Government of India and the NSCN-IM.
The leaders during the meeting expressed utmost desire that the negotiating parties expedite the ongoing talk and bring a logical conclusion for an honourable and acceptable settlement, said a statement of Monsang Tribe Union.
As per the statement, the members unanimously resolved to reiterate their support to the 'Framework Agreement' signed on August 3, 2015 at the official residence of PM Modi.
The union also appealed to the Government of India to honour and recognise the Naga National Flag and Yehzabo (Constitution) which it stated as an inseparable element to the Nagas.
The Anal Naga Tangpi (ANTA) in the meantime expressed that it is extremely saddened that the hard earned Indo-Naga Political Peace Talk is yet again sailing on rough weather when it is actually time to bring a ray of hope for the permanent peace and progress in the region.
It will be a clean cheat on the face of the world's largest democratic country, if the Government of India (GoI) fails to acknowledge the hard earned peace process and commit to the Framework Agreement signed on August 3, said ANTA in a statement.
Recalling the ill consequences of the infamous Shillong Accord of 1975, ANTA appealed to the Government of India not to repeat history while calling for unity amongst the Nagas.
ANTA also appealed both the negotiating parties, the GoI and the NSCN (IM) to strike the peace deal which is acceptable and respectable to both based on the unique history and position of the Nagas.
Saying that Naga National Flag is the symbol of Naga history and identity and the Naga Constitution is a sacred letters which reflects the way of life in conformity with its culture, custom and traditional values for the Nagas to practice and to live as one people in peace and tranquillity along with its surroundings, ANTA said that the GoI not agreeing to the Naga flag and Constitution after having signed the Framework Agreement is against the principles to bring an honourable permanent political settlement.
ANTA further stated that it fully endorses the Framework Agreement and appealed to GoI to recognise the Naga Flag and Constitution as the fundamental foundation for a peaceful solution to the long drawn Indo-Naga political conflict.
