Manipur Keithel Nupi Marup has demanded the immediate and unconditional release of CPI Manipur State Council (CPI-MSC) secretary L Sotinkumar.
Speaking to media persons at Ima Keithel, Manipur Keithel Nupi Marup Khwairamband Keithel president Yambem Ibeni decried the arrest of Sotinkumar and urged the State Government to release the CPI members unconditionally at the earliest in the interest of the public sentiments.
She further asserted that aged womenfolk of the State are extremely shocked and apprehensive while thinking about the adverse impact of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) 2019 will have on the future generations of the indigenous people.
Stating that the elderly womenfolk are not supposed to take part in protests as they should instead be resting at home, Ibeni asked State Government to think and understand the reason why many elderly people were taking part in the anti-CAA protests held across the State in the past.
