Imphal, September 28 2012:
The Government of India has fixed the subsidised rate of LPG refill cylinder anew and the new rate has been already brought into effect since September 14 last.
As per the new measures of the Government of India, each consumer would get three LPG cylinders between September 14 this year and March 31 next year.
In addition to the three refilled cylinders, the Government of Manipur would provide two more LPG refill cylinders during the same period.
As such, LPG consumers of the State should get five refill cylinders till March 31 next year.
A reliable source informed that even as the Government of India has fixed the subsidised price of the three refilled cylinders, the Government of Manipur is yet to fix the subsidised price of the two refilled cylinders which it should provide to each consumer.

The subsidised rate fixed by the Government of India is Rs 419.5 (cash and carry).
For extra cylinders, consumers may procure refilled cylinders at the non-subsidised rate of Rs 923.5 per cylinder.
The number of subsidised LPG refill cylinders procured by consumers during a particular period can be easily assessed from the IOC's computer system as well as from the consumers' blue books.
The subsidised LPG refilled cylinders would be made available at the commercial rate of Rs 1162 per cylinder to security forces under the Central Government, hospitals and also for Mid-Day Meal scheme.
In the meantime, as done in other States of India, due procedures have been initiated to enable consumers book LPG through SMS.
Under this initiative, consumers would be allowed to book LPG from their mobile phones to the IOC's system and the system would automatically update the booking dates.
This would save time for consumers which otherwise would be spent in going physically to gas agencies.
Some distributors have already agreed to the proposal of LPG booking through SMS.
But for majority of the distributors, they need to first verify their consumers.
As such, the new initiative would require some time for these distributors, added the source.
The cap on LPG has been put at 6 cylinders.
