ZUF greets on Jadonang death anniversary

Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) chairman Raitu Chawang has extended his warm greeting to all his fellow comrades, countrymen and the people of India on the 89th death anniversary of the freedom fighter Haipou Jadonang.
A press release signed by Raitu Chawang said that Jadonang, a revolutionary social and religious activist, was born on June 10, 1905, at Puiluan (Kambiron) Village, Tamenglong (present day Noney) Manipur.
Jadonang was mercilessly hanged to death on August 29, 1931 on the bank of the Nambul river behind the Imphal jail, by the British colonial Government, said the chairman and added that Jadonang stood up against all odds and fought the mighty British colonial power to ensure that the Zeliangrong people and other indigenous people in the region are not be subjected to exploitation and subjugation by alien rulers.
His slogan "Makaam Meirui Guang Tupuni" is an inspiration to all indigenous people in the Northeastern region of India, he said and prayed for peace, unity, equality and equity of all.
He also appealed for better understanding and coordination between the Zeliangrong frontal organisations and different parties or groups and avoid weighing hatred on mass media, social and electronic media.
