Thoubal, July 28 2020:
A mentally challenged person has been handed over to Irilbung Police Station after beating him black and blue on charges of theft at Uchekon in Imphal East.
The Singa Ideal Club, Youth Progressive Club, United Youth Club and his family members have demanded the Government to take up legal action against the individuals who have committed the crime.
The person has been identified as Md Dilawar alias Dillir (28) son of Md Abdul Rashid of Yairipok Singa Mathak Leikai.
According to people from his locality, he was missing since yesterday morning.
After filing a missing complaint with the police, his family members along with the local club volunteers have been searching for him at the nearby areas using loudspeakers.
One can easily figure out by looking at him that he is mentally challenged and when someone asks a question in reply he repeats the same question again, said one of his neighbours.
After receiving information from Irilbung police, they went there and found him with injury marks on his face, legs and on his body.
He was treated at Yairipok CHC but later discharged, they said.
