Kakching, July 28 2019: Kakching District Police on Saturday honoured police and (VDF) Village Defence Force personnel with 'Best Out-post Award 2019' and 'Reward/Appreciation for Devotion to duty by VDF Member'.

Wangoo Lamkhai Out Post was awarded Best Out Post award.

VDF Konjengbam Boyai Singh of the out-post was awarded 'Best Turn Out Award'.

27 VDF personnel and Wangoo Lamkhai OP ASI Athokpam Basanta Singh were also honoured with certificates and cash award.

The VDF personnel honoured are Konjengbam Boyai and Asem Ibosana of Wangoo Lamkhai OP, Elangbam Aviram and Ningthoujam Suran of Singtom OP, Khundrakpam Romio and Yumnam Somorjit of Umathel OP, Laishram Romesh and Elangbam Sunil of Sekmaijin OP, Usham Etomba and Md Zahid Hussain of Sora OP, Sapam Sohadeva and Sarangthem Sanjoy of Reserve Line Kakching, Additional SP (LO) Kakching Nongthombam Hemba, SP Office Runner Nongmaithem Prem, Naorem Ramo.

Sorokhaibam Athoi of Kakching Police Station, Chirom Momocha of Waikhong PS, Loitongbam Kumarjit Wangoo PS, Naorem Niranda of Sugnu PS, Thounaojam Narendra of Pallel PS, Oinam Inaoba of Arong PS, Nongmaithem Jayanta of Hiyanglam PS, Yengkhom Kanta of Traffic Control Police Kakching, Yumnam Milan of Traffic Control Police Sugnu and Laishram Amarjit (MTO Kakching) were also awarded at the event.

Uniforms were also distributed to VDF personnel.

SP Kakching Victoria Yengkhom, Additional SP (Law and Order) Kakching Lunkhomang Khongsai, Additional SP (Ops) Kakching Netrajit Nepram SDPO Kakching P Sankar, SDPO Sugnu A Devananda, DSP (Ops) H Rameshwar Sharma, Kakching Police Station OC Maibam Digbijoy Meitei, Pallel Police Station OC MS Heisnam, Sugnu Police Station OC Takhellambam Inaobi, Waikhong Police Station OC Ph Bulbul, Wangoo Police Station OC T Meino, Hiyanglam PS OC Th Damu, Arong Nongmaikhong Police Station OC Shanta, Kakching Commando OC Ningombam Tiken and other officers attended the award ceremony organised at Pangantabi Market Shed.

Speaking at the event, SP Victoria Yengkhom lauded the VDF personnel for their service and described them as 'backbone' of the police force.

Advising the VDF personnel to work at their best capacities, she assure all possible assistance to address their various grievances.

She also gave credit to the personnel of Kakching police for successfully implementing and operating the police Cycle Patrol unit.

The model is being adopted in other districts also, she said.

The cycle patrol unit was first established in the district on November 5, 2018 .
