Imphal, April 28 2016: The Hills Land Ownership and Compensa- tion Demand Association (HLOCDA), Tamenglong district has welcomed the order for constituting a committee to determine the market value of buildings, immovable properties or assets attached to land likely to be affected by the construction of Kangchup- Tamenglong road under ADB funding by the Govt of Manipur.

The Association in a statement signed by Amu Pamei, chairman and Majakhun Riamei, secretary, however said that the order will deprive many land owners in the hill areas.

The HLOCSA then urged the Govt to seriously look into the matter and necessary arrangement be made for fair com- pensation, relief and rehabilitation including payment of compensation for those whose lands are to be affected by the Kangchup-Tamenglong road construction as per 2013 Act in larger public interest.

The Association cautioned that the public of the district will not remain silent spectator if the demand is not met positively.
